Build Your Own Bars

When you have to eat and run, these bars are the perfect treat. You can create a variety of tasty snacks by mixing in your favorite nuts, fruits, candies, cookies, or cereal.


Makes: 32 squares


Ingredients:
12 c. popped ACT II® Microwave Popcorn, Butter flavor (approx. 3 bags)
1 c. light corn syrup
1 tbsp. butter

One EACH from both columns:

List A
1/2 c. chocolate chip cookie crumbs
1/2 c. oatmeal cookie crumbs
1/2 c. brownie crumbs
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. assorted chopped dried fruits
1/2 c. LaChoy® chow mein noodles
1/4 c. toasted, sliced almonds
1/4 c. chopped walnuts
1/4 c. chopped peanuts
1/4 c. toasted, shredded coconut

List B
1 c. semisweet chocolate chips
1 c. mint chocolate chips
1 (12 oz.) package white chocolate chips
1 c. peanut butter-flavored chips
1 c. butterscotch-flavored chips


Directions:

  1. Place the popped ACT II® Microwave Popcorn and one item from List A in a large bowl.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring the corn syrup and butter to a boil and boil for 3 minutes.
  3. Remove the corn syrup mixture from heat, then add one item from List B, stirring until thoroughly mixed.
  4. Pour the mixture over the popped ACT II® Microwave Popcorn, tossing gently to coat all pieces.
  5. Press the mixture into a buttered 8- x 8- x 2-inch baking dish.
  6. Cut into 2- x 1-inch squares and serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
