Act II Products Now with
Zero Grams Trans Fat!*

January 1, 2006 marked an important day in the food industry -- new federal rules driven by the updated Dietary Guidelines required nutrition labeling to begin including, among other things, trans fatty acids. The Orville Redenbacher's and ACT II brands, however, were ahead of the game. They looked at the January 2005 Dietary Guidelines and went one step farther, improving the nutritional value of most of their products so they contained 0 grams of trans fat per serving. One of America's favorite snacks -- which already had the wholesome goodness of 100 percent whole-grain popcorn -- became an even smarter snacking choice.

Popcorn is Naturally Nutritious

It's hard to believe a snack food that tastes so good can actually be good for you! With suggestions from organizations such as the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Dietetic Association (ADA), there's no doubt popcorn is a perfectly sensible snack to fit into any meal/fitness plan.

  • Popcorn is an ideal snack because it is filling, contains fiber, and is low in calories. ACT II Light Butter has only 25 calories/cup and less than one gram of fiber. ACT II Butter has only 30 calories/cup.
  • Snacking will not make you fat: only too many calories overall will do that. In fact, snacks can offer a control advantage if you're dieting. A 100 to 200-calorie snack, like a few cups of ACT II popcorn, eaten 2 to 3 hours before a meal can take the edge off your hunger and keep you from overeating.
  • Popcorn is twice as filling as a candy bar or peanuts. A Snickers bar has 280 calories. You could eat 11 cups of ACT II Light Butter popcorn or 9 cups of ACT II Butter popcorn for that many calories.
  • The bulk of popcorn makes it satisfying. You can eat a lot of popcorn without taking in a lot of calories. It makes your stomach feel full because it takes up so much space. A 1 oz. chewy granola bar has 110 calories. You could have 3 cups of ACT II Butter popcorn or over 4 cups of ACT II Light Butter popcorn for the same calorie intake.
  • Popcorn contains energy-producing carbohydrates.
  • Popcorn is ideal for between meal snacking since it satisfies and doesn't spoil an appetite.
  • Popcorn inspires creativity. While there's no doubt hot buttered popcorn is pleasing to any palate, ACT II Classic White, Kettle Corn or Light Butter popcorn can also be enjoyed when combined with seasonings, spices and other foods like raisins, fruit and cheese providing a nutritious, delicious snack.
